Ascend Center + Collective, nestled in the center of Cold
Spring, one of America’s “top 10 small towns,” is a collective of female-owned
ethical and fair trade businesses. In a gorgeous, three-floor historic building
dedicated solely to health and wellness, they have everything from yoga to
Pilates, acupuncture to chiropractic, tea to crystals and so much more.
“It’s never too
late to be the best version of you,” observes Melia Marzollo, owner of the
center, established in 2012. “We are here to offer you support, guidance,
inspiration and encouragement on your wellness journey.”
Ascend’s first
floor is home to their makers’ marketplace and café, which opened this past
winter, completing Marzollo’s vision to have a healing and wellness business
that felt like home and promoted community and collaboration.
“Our marketplace
supports women makers, designers and artisans selling unique, fair trade and
eco-friendly wares. It’s a perfect place to grab a cup of tea after class and
chat with a new friend or grab a special gift that you can feel good about; 2
percent of all proceeds from our market go back to women charities,” notes
Marzollo, who also mentioned that people can take workshops with the makers.
The second floor
houses their Pilates apparatus studio and their wellness offices, which include
acupuncture, chiropractic, Chinese medicine, massage therapy, craniosacral
therapy, structural integration and psychotherapy. And their spacious
1,100-square-foot yoga space, which has a soaring 18-foot sky-blue ceiling and
views of Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Mountain, can be found on the third
floor.
Class capacity is 50 students in the yoga space and their Pilates
equipment classes are limited to five students. They offer virtual classes
through their online platform Union. “Classes can be taken in real time or
replayed at your convenience anytime you are ready to practice,” suggests
Marzollo.
Their schedule
includes a variety of yoga classes—including ashtanga, nidra, restorative,
standup paddleboard, vinyasa and yin—as well as classes in sound healing,
somatic breathwork and Pilates. In addition, they offer guided hikes and a
5Rhythms Dance class. They also have several teacher training and continuing
education opportunities throughout the year.
