On February 5, 2025, from 7 to 8:45 p.m., Dr. Samantha Slotnick will give a free presentation at Mind-Body-World Optometry, her Scarsdale-based practice, entitled Vision and Success in School where she will highlight the potential impact of vision issues on children’s learning abilities. This is a fun workshop that will provide attendees with practical tools to identify children that are having trouble with learning. There will also be plenty of time for Q&A with the doctor to address specific concerns during this event.
“As many as 25 percent of children in any classroom have vision problems that keep them from reaching their potential,” says Slotnick. “And vision is an often overlooked component of learning and reading problems.”
As a behavioral optometrist, Slotnick takes a holistic, interactive approach to the treatment of vision problems for all ages. Her free, in-office series of workshops is meant to support community education about how vision develops and how differences between people result in differences in how we use our vision. Slotnick also recently released a new children’s book But MOMMY, I Can SEE!, an engaging story that kids and parents alike can relate to as the main character, Sylvia, finds a way to integrate her new glasses into daily life.
Location: Mind-Body-World Optometry, 495 Central Park Ave., Ste. 301, Scarsdale. To RSVP (requested), call 914-874-1177. For more information, visit DrSlotnick.com.
